Vocational Applied Learning Association

Vision, Mission & Goals

VALA is the only  (not for profit) Professional Teachers Association in Australia offering professional development supporting vocational and applied learning educators in secondary education. Established in response to the introduction of the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning over 20 years ago, VALA is highly respected by the VCAA and the DE which is evidenced by continuous and regular meetings with VCAA and DE and their support for VALA professional learning events, both in kind and financial.

VALA inspires and provides the tools and strategies for educators to deliver outstanding vocational and applied learning programs through professional development and learning events delivered by current VAL educators, relevant stakeholders including VCAA representatives and  Department of Education staff.

Our programs and events expose participants to current methodologies, DE policy direction, best VAL practice, innovations and ideas. VALA brings together vocational and applied learning educators from all education sectors throughout Victoria and provides a community of practice that will enhance your skills and knowledge, enabling you to be a VAL Champion!

VALA’s Vision

For Applied Learning practice and pedagogy to be valued and used across all education sectors, levels and content areas.
